Challenge me out of my comfort zone by telling me something I don't blog about, but you'd like to hear about, and I'll write a post or comment about it. On a total lark yesterday, I created a recs journal: teh_beanery . (Of course, The Beanery was taken). I've been wanting to keep better track of the fics I read and liked, and I wasn't updating my del.ic.ous page as much as I should, so I thought I'd give this a whirl. You may friend it if you like. I'll probably post once a week, and I'll still rec in this journal, though probably not as often.

And just so you know, this is not a review journal. I won't link to something I didn't like. Nor do I read everything, only when I can find the time, and some days my time is very tight. I know I miss a lot of good stuff. I just thought I should say that:-)

Well, after a quick perusal of my iTunes list I discovered that I had a least 60 songs starting with I. That hardly seemed sporting, IMO, and then I noticed certain patterns with some of the song titles.

1. baseball:
   Yes, well... I'm a huge Cubs fan even though my interest in them has waned over the last two year because, well... they suck. But I love baseball: the history, the mythology, the ebb and flow of the game, pitching duels, home runs, you name it. I was raised in a family of non-sportsfans and I begged, pleaded to my parents to drive me to Detriot to see the Tigers play and they finally relented when I was 15 and I proceeded fangirl shamelessly over Kirk Gibson, sneaking into the box seats to take photos and getting kicked out by security. My father was furious. Good times.
2. caffeine:
   My number one addiction. I can't function without at least four cups of coffee or tea a day. And mint mocha chip frapaccinos. *wistful sigh* If they weren't 550 calories (600 with the whipped creme) I'd pay the $4.25 to have one everday.
3. drabbles:
   I started out in fandom writing drabbles and I was just thinking today how much I missed writing them. Unfortunately, most of the drabble communities I belong to seem to be defunct. But I really love the challenge of creating a coherent story or scene in exactly 100 words.
4. florence:
   I've been obsessed with Florence and Italian art since I was 16. I spent a summer there in college on a study abroad program and I haven't been back since, which kills me, honestly.
5. harry potter:
   I wouldn't be here if it weren't for Harry Potter. I'm still amazed that I continue to be so enamored by the characters JKR created. For all the criticism that I level at her, I have to give her props for creating such a compelling world for me to play in.
6. hating hagrid:
   Hagrid was okay in the first two books when Harry was young and needed someone to look out for him and I do enjoy the Robbie Coltrane's film portrayal, but... The man makes me want to claw my eyes out. He was better in the last book, I'll give you that. Heck, I don't even have a hating Ginny interest.

   See interest #4. I've been all over the central part of Italy from Naples to Milan and Venice and I love to regale people with my boring stories about experiences there. Like the cute boy on a vespa named Luca. er... let's not go there.

   Kerry Wood is my baseball boyfriend.
